How do I reserve a puppy? You can reserve a puppy with a non-refundable deposit of $300. This deposit goes toward your puppies total cost of $1400. The deposit also holds your place in line for pick of litter of either male or female.  For your deposit we take cash, check, or Venmo (Bowden Farm and Services).  For full payment of puppy we only take cash or check.

How can I meet the puppies and their mama?  If you have paid a deposit, you will be given a date, time, and location to meet the puppies and their mama. This is usually when the pups are 5-6 weeks old.  This is a lot of fun because this is when the pups start showing their uniqueness and temperaments. You will have a chance to choose your pup at this time.

 

When can I take my puppy home?  Puppies go to their forever homes between 7-8 weeks of age.  This is when they are completely weaned from their mama and able to eat puppy food.  They will come with AKC registration, lineage, and vet checked. The vet check includes first round of shots and an approval as completely healthy.  Each pup will have been on a de-worming schedule while with breeder as well.

Can we come meet your puppies and/or bring our dog for you to meet him/her? We do not allow anyone, who doesn't live on our farm (including someone else' pets), to meet the puppies and/or snuggle them.  This might seem unfair to some, but is strictly for the health of the puppies. There are many sicknesses, brought from the outside, especially on the souls of our footwear, that can be detrimental and fatal to puppies.  We want each family, who is buying a puppy, to know that we do our absolute best to keep the puppies healthy and safe.

What is limited AKC registration mean? The cost of $1400 is for your puppy with limited AKC registration.  AKC paperwork guarantees a pure bred golden retriever with a registered lineage.  It is limited because it does not come with breeding rights.  Full AKC registration for breeding rights may be negotiated for an extra cost.

How often do you have litters?

At this time our mama has one litter per year.  This provides optimal healthy for our mama and litters.

Do the puppies have health checks? All our puppies are on a bi-weekly deworming schedule while at our farm.  They are vet checked at least once before going to their forever home.  Vet checks include, but does not exhaust the following: examining each pup for overall health, health murmurs, heart defects, healthy lungs, gait, eyes, ears, gums, and teeth. Our pups also receive at least their first round of parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis, distemper, and leptospirosis.  Males are checked and cleared for unilateral cryptorchidism.

Are the dewclaws removed on the puppies?

We do not remove dewclaws on our golden retriever puppies. Retrievers use their dewclaws to help them grip objects (bones or toys) as an added level of dexterity.  Dewclaws help goldens maintain balance, especially while making quick movements and going through rougher country.  They also help as a protective shield during exercise and going through brushy terrain.  Problems are rare when it comes to a retriever's declaws, but it is always wise to regularly inspect your retrievers paws, prevent injury, and discuss options with your vet as to whether your golden needs dewclaws removed to meet his/her lifestyle.  Our local vets recommendation is that their is absolutely no problem in removing dewclaws at the same time as a retriever is spayed/neutered if requested by owner at that time.​

Do the puppies come with microchips? No.  We allow for owners to make this decision for their retriever.

Do you deliver or ship the puppies?  We are willing to travel 1-2 hours to deliver a puppy.  We are willing to negotiate greater distance for an extra cost.  We do not ship puppies, but are willing to meet you at the Boise airport with your puppy and an airline approved soft carry-on carrier to take your puppy home.
